Citibank is NOT fulfilling the terms of their promotion for new CitiGold clients who are also Citi Thank You credit card holders. In this promotion, Citi Thank You credit card holders were promised XXXX Thank You points for opening a new CitiGold checking account. The terms of the promotion were that, in order to receive the Thank You points, the new CitiGold clients were to do 2 online bill payments in the 2 consecutive months following the opening of the account. The Thank You points would be credited to the new account 90 days after the statement in which the terms were fulfilled. I have now spent 4 phone calls, 2 secure messages, one online chat, and two letters asking Citibank to credit my account with the XXXX Thank You points. The result of all my requests was that Citibank sent me two generic form letters of which each had precisely the same words. Citibank refused to credit my account with the XXXX Thank You points because ” Unfortunately, there was not an ThankYou ( R ) Points promotion offered in conjunction with the opening of your account. ” Very significantly, this statement blatantly contradicts a secure message that I received from a CitiGold Customer Service Agent. A few days after I opened the new CitiGold account, a CitiGold Customer Service Agent _explicitly_confirmed_, _in_writing_, that attached to my account was the promotional code for the XXXX Thank You points. Moreover, the CitiGold Customer Service Agent _explicitly_confirmed_, _in_writing_, that, ” The bonus Thank You points will be credited by Citibank to your Thank You account 90 days from the end of the statement period in which you complete all offer requirements. ” Evidently, CitiGold ‘s own Customer Service Agent had _explicitly_confirmed_, _in_writing_, that the Thank You Points promotion was indeed offered in conjunction with the opening of my new account. I will be providing a copy of this secure message. Therefore, Citibank must credit my new CitiGold account with the XXXX Thank You points that were promised in their own promotion.
