1 Battery Tender USB Charger Adaptor – Best Small Motorcycle USB Charger
To start off this best motorcycle USB charger roundup, we are going to look at the Battery Tender USB adaptor.
This single port USB charger is about as portable as you can imagine and provides 2.1 amps of power. The tiny frame of this adaptor can easily be stored under your seat when not in use.
This Battery Tender adaptor requires an SAE type connection for it to function. Your motorcycle will not have this type of plug and play connection unless you have a battery charger for the motorcycle, for example.
So, while this USB charger is an adapter, you will need to purchase a further adapter. But, these aren’t typically expensive and can easily be found at your local hardware shop.
- Portable and compact.
- Very well priced.
- You’ll need to buy an SAE adapter.
2 Show Chrome Accessories 13-208 Dual Port USB Charger – Best Motorcycle USB Charger for Night Driving
This charger from Show Chrome Accessories is a dual-port charger. It features both a 1 amp and a 2.1-amp USB port.
You can power this directly off your motorcycle’s 12V battery. The provided power cable is over three feet long, allowing it to be tucked away under your fairings.
The charging unit attaches directly to your handlebars. It can accommodate handlebars that are from seven-eighths to one inch in size. You also have the ability to mount this on a flat panel as well. We found this type of fitting to be a tad more secure than installing it on your handlebars.
When you have this installed, you will notice light blue accent lighting in each USB port. This is somewhat helpful, especially at nighttime, when you are trying to plug in a USB cord.
The housing features a waterproof lid. After testing, we noticed that the seal of the cap seemed to gradually loosen after repeated use.
During one test, it actually flipped open on its own while driving down the highway. So, make sure it is securely sealed when not in use to prevent any chance of water damage.
- Long waterproof cable.
- Easy to attach.
- Both 2.1 and 1 amp charging ports.
- Can mount it flat or on handlebars.
- The lid on the unit doesn’t seal that tightly.
3 MICTUNING SAE to USB Cable Adapter Waterproof USB Charger – Best Easy Mount Motorcycle USB Charger
This is another type of motorcycle USB charger that can be attached directly to an existing SAE adapter. MICTUNING’s USB charger features one 2.1-amp port.
The USB port housing is made from flame-retardant rubber that features a slip off cap. It is entirely waterproof as well as being resistant to corrosion and heat.
You can power this charger via 12 or 24-volt batteries and the removable SAE connector is forty-seven inches long.
This USB charger can be mounted in a few different ways. You will notice that four holes are provided, allowing you to zip-tie this to different parts of your motorcycle.
There are also two screw holes found on the sides of the USB port housing. You could also use double-sided tape or another type of adhesive to attach this to your motorcycle as well. Regardless of the way you decide to mount it, you will need to go out and by the components to do so.
- SAE adapter included.
- Compatible with 24 or 12-volt batteries.
- 47-inch Ring terminal cable.
- Integrated 10-amp fuse.
- Mounting components are not included.
4 EKLIPES EK1-110 Cobra Chrome Ultimate Motorcycle USB Charging System, 1 Pack – Best Motorcycle USB Charger and Jumper
The Cobra Chrome from EKLIPES sure looks nice, but is it the best motorcycle USB charger? It might be since it features both a cigarette lighter and a 2.7-amp USB port for all your charging needs.
A little care needed in the install…
It mounts directly to your handlebars like some of the other USB chargers we have looked at. You will find both a seven-eighths inch and a one-inch mounting insert included.
These inserts slip into the one and a quarter-inch main mounting bracket. Be careful when you are tightening these to your handlebars. They are made out of a hard plastic that does not give. So, if you overtighten the mounting bracket, they could potentially crack.
The power ports sit in a chrome looking plastic housing as well. This housing unit features a flip-open style cap that will prevent water or dust from getting to the outlets.
The Cobra Chrome comes with a 2 in 1 type battery harness. On one section of the harness, you have a standard SAE connection.
Alongside that connection, you will also have what EKLIPES calls an EZ Jump-Start connector. EKLIPES sells an additional jump start kit that will fit directly into this socket, which makes jumping your bike incredibly easy. This makes it one of the best motorcycle USB chargers for long road trips.
- Includes USB and cigarette lighter port.
- 6 ft Power cable.
- Mountable to multiple sized handlebars.
- The mounting brackets are rather brittle.
5 MICTUNING Dual USB Charger Socket – Best IP66 Rated Motorcycle USB Charger
This next charger from MICTUNING features dual 2.1-amp USB power ports. It comes with an IP66 rated housing along with a flip-up cap to protect the power ports.
Along with the power outlets, you will also notice an LED voltmeter. This will give you the ability to check the status of your battery even with the lid closed.
Like other chargers, this one will need to be directly wired to your battery or accessory port. It is compatible with both 12 and 24-volt batteries, and you will find wire connectors included.
You will want to wire this, so it only powers on when your key is in the “On” position. Otherwise, the LED voltmeter will stay on permanently and could potentially drain your battery over time.
And there’s another catch…
When you first take a look at this dual USB charger, you might think it was made to be plugged into a wall outlet. It comes with a mounting bracket that the central charging unit slips into. Depending on your motorcycle and where you want to place it, you may find yourself needing to construct a support mount to attach the bracket to.
The overall size of the housing bracket is reasonably small, fortunately. It measures two and a half inches long and only one and three-quarter inches wide, so not much space is needed, fortunately.
- Integrated voltmeter.
- Shows battery life.
- Overcurrent and short circuit protection.
- Dual 2.1-amp USB ports.
- It is not that easy to mount.
6 MOTOPOWER MP0608 3.1Amp Motorcycle Dual USB Charger – Best Auto Shutoff Motorcycle USB Charger
The MOTOPOWER MP0608 USB charger has two charging ports on offer. The casing used is waterproof and has a removable cap.
It is powered via a five-foot-long cable with an SAE type connector. The SAE adapter has a built-in 7.5-amp fuse that protects you against a short-circuit.
The two USB charging ports available can supply up to 3.1 amps of power. Integrated into these ports is a microchip that will determine the ideal amount of energy that should be delivered through each port.
This allows for a quicker charging experience. And, it also allows for better power delivery when you are charging two devices at the same time.
With all the charging power on hand, you might be worried that you could drain your motorcycle battery.
However, have no fear…
You will notice a power button on the top of the USB charger case along with yellow, green, and red LED indicators. When you depress the power button, the indicator will turn green. If you tap the power button twice, it will display your battery status. And, if the indicator turns yellow, your battery is weak. When it turns red, it means you need to charge your battery.
But most importantly, the unit will shut off the power output if your motorcycle battery has less than 11.6V.
- Built-in battery monitor.
- Power-efficient smart charge circuitry.
- Robust SAE adapter including fuse.
- Mounting hardware is not provided.
7 BlueFire 5V/3A Dual USB Charger Socket – Best Multi Functional Motorcycle USB Charger
The last charger we are going to look at is from BlueFire. This is a multifunctional charger that starts off by featuring two 3-amp USB ports.
Alongside these ports are an integrated fuse and a voltmeter that will tell you the current charge of your motorcycle battery. You also have a fully functional cigarette lighter type port.
And a clock…
Surrounding the internal electrical components is a housing that is dust and waterproof. On top of the flip-open lid that is incorporated into the casing, you will find a clock as well.
This clock runs off a separate battery supply. To prevent this charger from draining your battery when your bike isn’t running, BlueFire has integrated a power switch into the charging unit.
You have just under five feet of wiring on hand for powering this USB charger. While this wiring is shielded from the elements, it seemed somewhat fragile to us.
The way that the wiring comes out of the case has us a tad bit concerned. On our test unit, the plastic edging surrounding the wires was a bit jagged. So, make sure to bend the wiring a few inches away from the case when you are installing the charger. We feel that if you create a bend too close to the housing unit, it could possibly damage the protective sheath that surrounds the wiring.
You can also connect this charger to your handlebars or onto a rearview mirror with the mounting brackets.
- Integrated power switch.
- Prevents battery drain.
- Up to 3 amps of power.
- Can mount it on a rearview mirror.
- Cable sheathing could be more durable.
Best Motorcycle USB Chargers Buying Guide
When you are out shopping for your ideal motorcycle USB charger, there are a few things you should take into consideration.
Ports and Power
There are different types of USB ports. All of the chargers we looked at provide a USB-A type connection, which is the most common type of USB interface.
It’s important to know that USB powered devices can only receive so much power at once. And, we measure the amount of energy the device gets in amps.
Your typical USB charger will provide 2.1 amps. This might charge a small smartphone quickly, but it might not charge a large GPS unit or a tablet as fast, for example.
Some USB chargers can supply up to 3 amps of power. And, just like the USB chargers you use at home for your devices, some motorcycle USB chargers provide Quick Charge capabilities.
Other cool features to look for…
Motorcycle USB chargers that have integrated microchips can adjust the amount of power it sends to your device. This way, your device only receives the maximum amount of power it can handle and is, therefore, much more efficient.
If you want to charge more than one device at a time, you will want to get a charger that has more than one port. Chargers might even supply cigarette lighter ports for charging purposes as well.
All of the chargers we have looked at are powered via your motorcycle’s battery. Thus, the more devices you charge, the quicker your battery can drain.
Some chargers will include LED displays or light up indicators that will show you your battery’s current voltage. You may even find USB chargers that have power buttons that will allow you to turn the charger off when not in use.
There are two typical ways to connect your motorcycle USB charger to your battery. The first is via D-ring cables that will attach directly to the terminals on your battery.
The second way is via an SAE type connection and adaptor. If you have ever owned a trickle type battery charger, you will be familiar with this type of connection.
If you have an SAE adaptor connected to your motorcycle’s battery, you can typically leave it connected all of the time. The USB charger’s cable can then be plugged in or removed whenever you want.
This will eliminate the possibility that your battery might drain. If your USB charger has an integrated power switch, then you also won’t need to worry about your battery draining.
All of the chargers we have looked at will most commonly mount on to your handlebars. Since handlebar size can differ from motorcycle to motorcycle, you will need to measure them to find a compatible charger.
Some chargers can also be mounted flat or even to your rearview mirrors. But you will commonly find some type of mounting bracket included with your USB charger.
Another way to mount a charger is with double-sided tape or with an adhesive.
No matter which charger you end up going with, you need to make sure it doesn’t distract you while riding down the road.

It provides smart charging capabilities at up to 3.1 amps and can charge up to two devices at once. And thanks to the integrated power switch, your motorcycle battery will never lose power when not in use. It even includes a battery monitor with LED indicators.
Installation was super easy thanks to the included SAE type connection and adaptor. But take note, mounting the waterproof controller will require a smooth surface, so you might need an additional bracket.
