After a long day we’re often faced with one of the most difficult decisions we have to make: “Do I go to the gym, or do I go home to watch the latest reality television show?”

Decisions, decisions, decisions! Here are a few exercises that you can do right at your couch without missing a second of your favorite television show. Note: You may have to move the coffee table out of the way, but consider that part of your warm up.

Doing one exercise per commercial break, start when the first commercial comes on and continue until the show starts again.

  • Couch Squats: Scoot your bum to the edge of the couch and sit up nice and tall. During the commercial break, stand straight up, then sit down (but not all the way). When you barely begin to touch the cushions, stand back up again. Repeat until the show begins again.
  • Pillow Press: Take a pillow, and while seated nice and tall, position the pillow between both hands (palms facing inward) straight out from your chest. Now squeeze and release the pillow.
  • Seated Ab Crunches: Sit up tall, pull you abs in as tightly as you can then slowly round forward, chin towards your belly-button, hold a second then lift back up.
  • Back squeeze: Place a pillow between your shoulder blades and lean back against the couch cushions to hold it in place. Now, just squeeze the pillow by pulling your shoulder blades together and release.

Please Note: Always consult a physician before beginning any excercise program
